UKCC was
founded for the purpose of establishing a membership
organization for tutoring professionals. Over the past
several years, the purpose has expanded to promote
education, specialization, and scientific research. UKCC is
now a big professional association dedicated exclusively to
tutoring, and represents the interests of more than 100 tutors practicing in all phases of tutoring, program
administration, and supplemental student services.
UKCC Mission is to foster the
advancement of tutoring to enhance student academics.
This is accomplished by: Providing education with respect to
all phases of tutoring through a variety of formats;
Developing standards of tutorial practice; Encouraging
specialization and research in all phases of tutoring;
Promoting the professional growth of all tutors engaged or
interested in the practice of tutoring; Facilitating
cooperation among tutors, administrators and others
concerned with the education of all students; Exchanging
professional knowledge; Promoting public awareness and
understanding of the needs of students who seek tutoring
assistance; and Cooperating with colleges, universities,
school districts, government agencies, organizations,
professional tutors in private practice, and any agency in
matters affecting the purpose of UKCC .
As an organization, UKCC meets many needs.
One of the primary goals is education in all phases of
tutoring program administration and practice. UKCC strives
both to educate professionals involved in the field of
tutoring, and to promote public awareness of our members and
their practice. UKCC promotes the professional growth and
interests of all tutors involved in our field, and
encourages certification through the UKCC Certification Programme . Certification provides a validation of your
knowledge of this vital specialty to the public and your
peers. The UKCC exists to promote quality academic
assistance to students at all grade and age levels through
public and professional education, research, and standards
of practice
